I’ve a MacBook Pro with macOS X Lion on it. The Cisco VPN Client which i had doesn’t work on LION. Lync 2013 for mac. See the explanation below why. Now a colleague of me figured out how to create a Cisco VPN connection in LION described below. On the cisco official website there is a remark about supported vpn clients and there mac os x built in IPSec client seems to be suitable. Moreover, for ASA 5500 it's suitable both in 'l2tp over ipsec' and 'Cisco IPSec' modes. As far as I know, there is nothing in works right now and it is highly unlikely that there will be a new Cisco IPSec VPN client developed for MAC. Your best bet would be to persue the alternative solutions. The proprietary CiscoVPN Mac client is somewhat buggy. It is possible to use the IPSec VPN software included with Mac OS X instead. Note: To use this sample configuration with Mac OS X 10.2, you must be running Cisco VPN Client 3.6 or later.
